Ms. Helen Clark, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Administrator and UN Under Secretary General paid an official visit to India from 14-17 March, 2012.
During her visit she met with Minister of State for External Affairs Smt. Preneet Kaur on March 14, 2012. Following their meeting, Ms. Clark and Smt. Preneet Kaur witnessed the signing of a 'Partnership Framework Agreement' between Government of India and the UNDP.
The Agreement, the first ever between Government of India and UNDP, provides a structured framework for collaboration between India and UNDP, with the main focus on enhancing South-South cooperation (SSC) in support of other developing countries. The overall objective of the Agreement is strengthen the cooperation between the Parties for South-South cooperation (including triangular partnership) by leveraging India's development experience, technologies, technical expertise and training and UNDP's global development network and finance to further the cause of sustainable development in other developing countries.
