Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi claimed that China spent 20%of its GDP on education, urging India to emulate its eastern neighbour. His claims were way off the mark as China spends nearly five times less on education. According to Xinhua, the official channel of the Chinese government, the expenditure on education was 3.93%. In fact, India spends 4% of its GDP on education which is marginally better than its eastern neighbour.
